The all-rounder for special applications
The side channel pump is a hybrid of a centrifugal pump and a positive displacement pump. Its special design (open star impeller and side channel) combines the advantages of both systems, making it the ideal solution for demanding pumping tasks:
Key features:
- Self-priming: The pumps are self-priming due to their design. The maximum suction height is 6 m.
- Pumping gases/vapors: They are capable of pumping liquids with gases or vapors, as their principle corresponds to a combination of a positive displacement pump and a centrifugal pump.
- Bidirectional (switchable): The electric motors (on 230V models) are equipped with a changeover switch so that the pumps can be operated in both directions of rotation.
- Dosing: The pumps are optionally available with a bypass (regulating valve) to regulate the delivery rate.
- Multifunctional: They are suitable for a wide range of applications in various sectors such as food, dairy, chemical (acids, solvents), and agriculture.
Chemical and thermal properties of pump materials
The main difference between stainless steel and bronze side channel pumps lies in their resistance to the media being pumped and the permissible operating conditions.
The choice between stainless steel and bronze depends directly on the type of fluid to be pumped (aggressive vs. neutral) and the operating conditions (especially temperature). Stainless steel offers maximum resistance and flexibility, while bronze is a cost-effective and robust solution for neutral applications.
